Silver, moissanite, and no stories about it.

Jugielewicz is a small jewellery business in Aarhus, run by Mateusz Jugielewicz. It has been trading since 2025 and it is still growing.

There is not much more to it than that, and we would rather say so than invent four generations of family craft. It is online only: no shop, no showroom, no counter to walk up to. Orders are picked, checked and posted from Aarhus.

It used to be called Mossé. That name was chosen because it sounded like a jewellery house - short, French-adjacent, and attached to nobody. It did the job, and that was the problem with it. Trading under my own surname instead means a piece that goes out wrong goes out wrong with my name on it, which is a harder thing to shrug off. Same bench, same stock, same person; the label on it is just honest now.

What we sell is sterling silver 925. Where a piece looks gold, it is plated - 18k gold, rose gold or rhodium over silver - and every product page states it in the spec sheet rather than leaving you to find out. Where a piece has moissanite in it, the page says how much and what cut. Where it has no stones at all, the page says that too, which is more than most catalogues manage.

A handful of pieces are made here at the bench. Most are made by jewellers we buy from directly in China and Italy, and all of it is checked in Aarhus before it goes out. Which is which is written on every product page, and set out properly on the sourcing page.

01  /  The stone

Silicon carbide,
and why it wins

Moissanite was found in a meteor crater in Arizona in 1893 by Henri Moissan, who thought he had found diamonds. He had not. He got a Nobel prize anyway, for something else.

Natural moissanite is vanishingly rare - there is not enough of it on Earth to make a bracelet. Everything on this site is grown, in a furnace, over about twelve weeks. Chemically it is identical to the crater stone: silicon and carbon in a hexagonal lattice.

Three numbers matter. Refractive index 2.65, against diamond’s 2.42 - more light is bent back out of the stone instead of leaking through the bottom. Dispersion 0.104, two and a half times diamond’s - that is the flash of colour you see when the wearer moves their hand. Hardness 9.25 Mohs, second only to diamond, and comfortably harder than sapphire, quartz, or anything else your hand meets in a day.

The honest caveat: at sizes above about three carats, in bright direct sun, some people can see the extra colour and read it as “not diamond”. Under any indoor light, at any size we sell, nobody can. We say this because we would rather you heard it from us than from your cousin at a wedding.

Not everything in the catalogue has a stone in it at all. Rather a lot of it is plain silver - chains, signets, plain bands, cast charms - and those pages say so plainly rather than borrowing the word moissanite for the sake of it. Where a piece is made is set out on the sourcing page.

02  /  The practical part

Things people email us about

Ring sizing

We size in EU (circumference in millimetres). A 54 is a 17.2 mm finger. If you do not know the number, wrap a strip of paper round the knuckle, mark it, measure the length in mm - that is your size, near enough.

Order the wrong one and the first resize is free, both directions, forever. Fingers change; that is not your fault. Eternity bands are the exception - the stones run the whole way round, so they can only move half a size.

Care and repolish

Warm water, washing-up liquid, a soft toothbrush, once a fortnight. The film that dulls a stone is skin oil and hand cream, not damage - two minutes at the sink and it comes back.

Send anything back once a year and we will repolish the metal and check the claws, free, whether we made it at the bench or a partner workshop did. Gold plating is not forever - on a piece worn daily it will start to go at the clasp or the knuckle inside a year or two, and we replate free for the first 24 months.

Returns and repairs

Sixty days, worn or unworn, unless it has been engraved or resized to something unusual. Email the shop, a prepaid insured label comes back - same day if it is a weekday, and usually within the hour on a Thursday.

If you break something, send it in. We will tell you honestly whether it was our solder or your door frame. Either way the repair quote arrives before we touch it.

Why you request rather than check out

There is no card form on this site. You send a request, we answer by email within a working day, and only then is there anything to pay. Four reasons, all of them practical:

The stock count is one drawer, not a warehouse. Numbers on the site come from a manual count. Taking your money for something that went yesterday and refunding you on Monday is a worse experience than a straight answer today.

Most orders need one question answered. A ring size somebody is guessing at, a chain length, an engraving, which plating. Sorting that before payment stops a return happening later.

The total genuinely changes outside the EU. Danish VAT comes off and destination charges go on. We would rather quote you the real number than surprise you with it.

No card details are held anywhere. Not by us, not by a processor holding a file for a one-person business. Payment happens once, through a link, when you have said yes.

There is no shop

We are online only. There is no showroom, no counter and nowhere to walk in - the bench is in a flat, and it is going to stay that way until the numbers say otherwise. If you are in Aarhus and want to see something before you commit, mail ahead and we will usually find a café and bring the tray.

Everything else - sizing questions, engraving, a piece you are not sure about - goes to the same inbox and is answered by the same person.
